Beverly Crawford, Flute

Beverly Crawford is Principal Flute for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Second Flute for the Pittsburgh Opera. She was also Assistant Principal Flute in the Baltimore Symphony for the 2008-09 season and previously was Principal Flute for the Akron Symphony, Toledo Symphony, and Knoxville Symphony and also held positions with the Columbus Symphony and Syracuse Symphony. She has performed in the great concert halls from Madrid, Vienna, Amsterdam, London and the Vatican to Carnegie Hall in New York and Severance Hall in Cleveland under the batons of Andre Previn, David Robertson, Mariss Jansons, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Marin Alsop, Maxim Shostakovich, Vasily Petrenko, and Leonard Slatkin.


Crawford received her Bachelor’s in Music from Northwestern University and her Master’s in Music History from The Florida State University. As a member of Trio Sortilège, she won the MTNA Collegiate Chamber Music Competition and gave masterclasses and recitals from coast to coast. In 2007 her group the Bridge City Winds won the Pittsburgh Concert Society auditions and gave concerts all over the Pittsburgh area, including at the Frick Art Museum Music for Exhibitions. She has a private flute studio and is the founder of Parnassus Youth Concerts, which provides innovative educational programming and materials for orchestras all over the world.
